life

  • so …still no job.  i am underqualified for certain jobs that i know i could do and overqualifed for others.  i just can’t win.  school is going well.  i currently have an A!  and i am learning a lot.  i have a week and half left in this class then i have a week off before i start a new one.  nothing much is going on.  just hanging out with the family and a few friends.
  • one thing i have learned lately is that people really are brought into your lives at very specific times.  it may be to help you or them, or both but it’s amazing how a person just shows up at that perfect moment of need.  i am so thankful for everyone in my life and i am learning so much and they hope they feel the same way.
  • Rhonda is doing ok, but would love to get more mail!  it’s hard for her to keep up with email and myspace so just drop her a card when you get a chance.  she has already gotten several cards and packages and is so thankful!
  • becca and i have been going to Quapaw Quarter United Methodist Chruch for a couple of months now and wow, we have really enjoyed it.  i have been wanting to go, but wasn’t quite ready yet.  i am so glad we found this place.  currently, our minister is doing a series of sermons on difficult questions Christians face.  the topics range from abortion, death penalty, suicide…those tough issues people avoid.  she talks about how the methodist church views these issue and how we as christians should answer them.  yesterday she spoke on homosexuality.  without going into great detail, it was amazing!  for the first time in a church someone said is was ok.  choking back tears she apologized and was so sad that we as gay people had been treated so poorly in the name of jesus by other churches or religious people.  times change and so does the world.  scripture taken out of context can be so divisive and hurtful.  if we took everything literally then women and people of color would have no place in the church or world.  it’s just that next step of change that we all need to take.  a lesbian member of the church put it so well….she said when she walks into the church she isn’t gay she is just a disciple of christ.  that’s how it should be.  we are all there for the same reason and should all be treated equally.  i could talk about his for days but just wanted to share just how great it felt.  i have a renewed faith and trust in the church…it’s nice:)

just an update on life….not much to blog about but just keeping everyone up to date on me!  hope everyone is well!

on a sadder note….i really miss my sister!!!  man i like hanging out with her and it’s so hard not to have her here.  we had family dinner tonight without her and it was sad:(  we all miss her a ton!!!

i have a few more job prospects through an employment agency.  they are sending my appplication to a few companies so let’s hope one of them likes my resume.  i just need something interesting where i can be organized!

our friend jason (kyle’s boyfriend) has been staying with us for a few days and it has been a pleasure.  we have really enjoyed his company!

the pugs had a visitor sunday, mr. milton, a cute little weenie dog!  he held his own very well with the big black dog and all the babies seemed to have so much fun!  thanks hillary and breean for sharing your little man with us and thanks hillary for being as anal as I am and helping me clean the kitchen!

oh, and friday we had dinner and games with eve and collin.  we made it a group thing and were joined by katy, step, fiona and jason.  we had canon grill, beer and scatagories.  then we moved on the a game a charades….which was interesting to sat the least!  thanks for a great evening!  i LOVE games!!!!
